Solar energy company Sun King has expanded its product range in Nigeria with higher-capacity solar inverter systems and a new solar-powered freezer designed for households and businesses.
The company unveiled the products in Lagos in September 2026 as demand continues to grow for alternatives to unreliable grid electricity and petrol and diesel generators.
Sun King's PowerHub inverter range now extends from 2.2kVA to 30kVA. The new capacities include 5kVA, 10kVA, 15kVA and 30kVA systems, giving customers options for applications ranging from homes and small businesses to schools, healthcare facilities and light industrial operations.
The systems are designed to be scalable, allowing users to increase their inverter capacity, battery storage and solar panels as their electricity needs grow without replacing their existing installation.
The company also launched PowerFreeze, a standalone solar-powered refrigeration system aimed at reducing food spoilage and generator costs.
PowerFreeze combines a 210-litre fridge-freezer, solar panels, an energy control unit and a battery. According to Sun King, the unit can operate as either a refrigerator or freezer and uses heavy insulation and built-in ice batteries to help maintain cold temperatures overnight and during periods of limited sunlight.
The product is particularly relevant to food vendors, restaurants, supermarkets and households that depend on reliable refrigeration.
The development highlights how solar technology in Nigeria is moving beyond basic household backup systems into larger commercial and specialised applications.
As businesses look for more reliable and potentially lower-cost alternatives to generators, scalable solar systems and solar-powered appliances are becoming an increasingly important part of Nigeria's distributed energy market.
